Trump’s opponents far more extreme: Analyst
Leading US Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump is far less extreme than his rivals when it comes to foreign policy, says an American analyst.
Keith Preston, chief editor and director of attackthesystem.com, made the remarks in an interview with Press TV about reports of foreign diplomats’ complaints about Trump to US government officials.
Officials from Europe, the Middle East, Asia and Latin America have expressed alarm in recent private conversations about Trump’s xenophobic comments, according to senior US officials.
“It is true that Donald Trump comes across as an individual that is rather narcissistic, megalomaniacal and egotistical,” Preston said. “However, I have noticed that there is a great deal of tendency of critics of Donald Trump, both domestically in the US and internationally, to perhaps underestimate the dangers posed by some of his opponents.”
While many criticisms about the real estate magnate are worth to be underlined, it should be noted that his rivals Senator Marco Rubio of Florida, Senator Ted Cruz of Texas and former first lady Hillary Clinton are “equally dangerous, if not more,” Preston said.
He argued that while Trump’s demeanor is “buffoonish” at times, “his actual comments pertaining to foreign policy and international relations are arguably less extreme than those of some of his opponents.”
He described Rubio as a candidate “funded by a couple of Jewish billionaires that are staunch Israeli partisans.”
Cruz has called for American “carpet-bombing” of Syria and would likely escalate US military involvement in the Middle East, Preston further said.
Clinton has also advocated in her speeches for more military adventures and waging new wars, the analyst continued.
He noted that some of Trump’s opponents like Rubio “wish to escalate hostilities with Russia,” while Trump “has apparently taken a more conciliatory approach towards Russia.”
Of the 1,237 delegates needed for the Republican Party’s nomination in the November election, Trump currently holds 384. Cruz has 300 followed by Rubio with 151 and Kasich with only 37. Source: http://presstv.ir/Detail/2016/03/08/454505/Trump-Rubio-Clinton-Cruz-GOP-Preston
